NZSFW Certificate in NZ Wine
Introduction
This popular two week introductory course offers you the opportunity to study about wine, viticulture, wine making, and matching food with wine. It focuses on the main wine varietals grown in New Zealand and the styles of wine that have built their reputations.
You will look at the European traditions that have influenced New Zealand winemaking as well as the winemaking process. You will learn how to taste and evaluate wines and the principles that underscore food and wine matching. A day trip to visit to two respected local vineyards is included in this course. Graduates receive the NZSFW Certificate in Wine and NZQA unit standards.
Full time and weekend options include WSET Level 1.
The Level 1 Award in Wines is an entry level qualification providing a straightforward introduction to wine. It is ideal for boosting the confidence of new or inexperienced front line staff in the hospitality and retail sectors for basic product knowledge and skills in the storage and service of wines. It is also a great course for those wanting to learn the main wine grape varieties, wine styles and food and wine matching basics.
This Qualification was initially created for the front-of-house staff within the on-trade sector. It has grown into a course with Global appeal, providing basic knowledge of first time employees to the wine industry and the interested consumer alike.
Entry Requirements
- Aged 18 or over
- Upper intermediate level of English
